CSOSA Certified as New Federal Agency

Jasper Ormond, Jay Carver & Attorney General Janet Reno

L-R:  Jasper Ormond, Interim Director,  CSOSA; John A. "Jay" Carver, Former Trustee CSOSA; Attorney General Janet Reno

"Upon my appointment as Trustee in 1997, I saw my challenge as taking what works on a small scale and applying those proven strategies across the board.  For the first time, it appeared that the full potential for enhancing public safety through improving supervision of criminal offenders and defendants could become a reality."          Jay Carver, Former Trustee

On August 4, 2000, the Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency completed its transition to become an independent agency of the Federal government.  This was successfully completed due to the vision and dedication of Former Trustee, Jay Carver.  We are grateful for his leadership.  Jasper Ormond, formerly Associate Director of CSOSA's Community Justice Programs, was named Interim Director.

On August 14, 2000, CSOSA welcomed Attorney General Janet Reno and John "Jay" Carver, Former Trustee of CSOSA, to honor the recent certification of the Agency.  In speaking to the CSOSA staff, Janet Reno said, "The work you all have done in creating a new drug strategy for the District of Columbia is to be admired."
