Court Services & Offender Supervision Agency (CSOSA) and the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) have formed a new partnership with the community to address crime in Washington, D.C. By combining our resources, we can increase the accountability of individuals in the criminal justice system, improve the criminal justice system's accountability to law-abiding citizens, and enhance public safety.
When crime occurs, it not only affects individual lives, it also shatters communities. Each offender or victim is a father or mother, a brother or sister, an employee or employer, a relative, friend or neighbor. The presence of crime in a neighborhood jeopardizes its safety. When residents are afraid to leave their homes and use public facilities, the community's ability to police itself and prevent crime diminishes. We must reestablish our ability to prevent crime and other forms of unacceptable behavior in order to enhance public safety.
