Branch IV - Special Supervision Services

This branch provides services for the domestic violence, mental health and sex offender caseloads as well as offering curfew monitoring services through an electronic monitoring component. Four dedicated domestic violence supervision teams provide case management services for batterers referred by the Court in criminal, deferred sentencing and civil protection order matters. Two other domestic violence treatment teams provide psycho-educational and direct treatment services for batterers referred with special Court-ordered conditions. These teams also monitor the provision of treatment services offered by private sector providers on a sliding fee scale to batterers mandated into treatment by Court orders.

A dedicated mental health supervision team provides intensive case management services to special needs offenders with medically diagnosed conditions requiring focused monitoring to include requirements for offender compliance with the administration of certain medications as directed by order of the Court or paroling authorities.

A specialized sex offender supervision team provides assessment, supervision and treatment monitoring services to convicted sex offenders. This unit will also work in conjunction with the Metropolitan Police Department in coordinating oversight responsibility for the registration process of all convicted sex offenders in the District of Columbia.

This branch also provides electronic surveillance (curfew monitoring) services to Court-ordered probationers as well as other offenders referred by the general supervision and special programs teams as a condition of sanctions-based supervision requirements now in place throughout the agency.
