Lapse in Appropriations

Non-excepted (Furloughed) Staff: Employees designated as Day 6-14 – Excepted must return to work (onsite) on Monday, October 6, 2025 (Day 6) or their next regularly scheduled workday. Staff should review their Employee Designation During Lapse in Appropriations Notice to confirm their status. Employees may use agency-issued electronic devices to check the status of the shutdown.

All Staff: When the President signs a continuing resolution or appropriation, employees must return to work (onsite) on their next regularly scheduled workday, regardless of the dates indicated in their notice.


This website is maintained as a resource to ensure that employees have access to important information regarding the agency’s appropriation status and their individual designation (or status) during a lapse. Employees shall monitor media outlets, this website, and the Office of Personnel Management website on at least a daily basis for notification that a continuing resolution or appropriation has been signed by the President and that the shutdown is over.
